“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
Lately when you guys fight, I try to have the “talk”. This is where I make you either hug one another or give each other a “pat pat” on the back to encourage you to be kinder to one another. Yesterday I caught Avery trying to bite Bennett’s arm and immediately said: “Avery you stop that right now!” Your reaction was to immediately stop the biting and go right into a quick “pat pat” of Bennett’s back. Ha! You knew you were in trouble and you already went into “consequence” mode. I couldn’t help but laugh.
Thankfully you do both show kindness to one another, giving each other hugs or “pat pat’s” when the other is crying and Dad said that Avery went to go get Bennett his blanket when he was crying today.
You love to read books and can often be found just reading books next to one another without any prompting. You like pointing to pictures and letting us know what you see: “yak” and “newt” are a couple that surprised me. Others include “bee, umbrella, rainbow, water, waterfall, avery and bennett (replacing the little boy and girl in the Dr. Seuss books), mittens, etc.”
We went to Cassandra’s wedding this past Saturday and Basil found himself in the middle of a dance-off. Quick-thinking led him to take Bennett with him and surprisingly, Bennett immediately started dancing when the music played quickly winning over the crowd. Avery saw Dad and Bennett having all the fun and looked up at me as she was holding my hand. I said: “You can go if you want to” and you immediately walked onto the dance floor and started dancing. I love that neither of you shied away from the moment and watching the three of you dance was so much fun for me. Needless to say, you guys won the dance-off.
