The Encounter Youth Group attempted its first fundraiser of the year at the Berryessa Flea Market. We had actually cooked up this idea years ago and collected a closet full of trash-to-treasure items but never got around to actually committing to go until now.

To brighten up the room, we (and by “we” I mean mostly Anna, Stella and Christine) created pom-poms, following the very simple instructions by Martha Stewart. At the risk of breaking one of Brad Pitt’s “New Rules for Highly Evolved Humans” I’m linking to her how-to for party poms. I love these! My infatuation started after seeing 2 bright pink poms in the room of Andy & Olinda’s daughter. Great craft idea to spruce up a room and add a touch of whimsy.

We had our 2nd Annual LWF Oysterfest at Drakes Beach this weekend and as with all our outings, the food was FABULOUS. Thanks to everyone who pitched in to make this another memorable event and for adding to the smorgasbord of goodness that kept us happily eating all day long!

There are in particular 2 Bibles on display at the seminary that Danny and Eric attended, both special because they are very early copies. One had the impressions of the owner’s hands permanently imprinted on the Bible’s cover, he must have carried that Bible around with him wherever he went. The other was so water damaged that they had it sent away to be tested. The water damage turned out to be due to the owner’s tears, poured out as the reader poured over the words of God.
